Rescue mode boots your server from a temporary environment, allowing you to diagnose and fix issues when the normal operating system will not start.
When to Use Rescue Mode
- Your server fails to boot normally.
- You need to recover data from a corrupted system.
- You need to reset a forgotten root password.
- You need to run filesystem checks.
Booting into Rescue Mode
- Log into your server control panel.
- Select the server you want to rescue.
- Click Rescue Mode, Boot Rescue, or similar.
- Select the rescue operating system if prompted.
- Confirm and wait for the server to boot into rescue mode.
- Use the provided credentials to connect via SSH or VNC.
Exiting Rescue Mode
Once finished, reboot the server normally from the control panel.
