How to Reboot Your Server

Rebooting your server can resolve temporary issues and apply updates. This article explains how to reboot safely using your control panel or the command line.

Rebooting via Control Panel

  1. Log into your server management panel.
  2. Select the server you want to reboot.
  3. Click Reboot, Restart, or the power cycle button.
  4. Confirm the action and wait for the server to come back online.

Rebooting from the Command Line

For Linux servers, run:

sudo reboot

For Windows servers, run:

shutdown /r /t 0

Before Rebooting

  • Save any open work.
  • Stop critical services gracefully if possible.
  • Notify users if the reboot will cause downtime.
